Berlin Blog 2025 - Pt.1: Sensory Deprivation, Pressure Points & Insomnia
Sensory Deprivation, Pressure Points & Insomnia
What a great start to my Berlin trip. After a 17 1/2 hour flight from Perth to London, and then a short 2 hour connection I arrived in Berlin. Navigating the train from the station to the hotel, although a little daunting at first, given I only speak a minimal amount of German, proved a success in that I managed to find my hotel in Mitte without too much stress.
A little afternoon nap and I was up and dressed and headed to the first of four workshops at the amazing BDSM Studio Lux. If you have seen the Netflix series, Risque Business, where two South Korean presenters visit a Berlin Dungeon, well this is the place they visited.
The Dungeon itself is made up of a range of play rooms, including a medical clinic, study and latex room amongst others. It’s an amazing space and has some incredible equipment and toys which has given me a little Mistress envy if I’m honest, but lots of inspiration for a future Perth space.
The workshop itself, Sensory Deprivation & Pressure Points, was led by Saga Moros. Saga has a wonderful and engaging presentation style and incorporates her own experiences in to the workshop, bringing a more realistic level of instruction and information.
The first part of the workshop was all theory, covering off the do’s, don’ts, physical and psychological aspects of this particular kink. Indeed, I was incredibly surprised to discover that we alongside our five major senses, we have around another 32 sub-senses. All I am keen to explore :)
The second part of the three hour workshop was based on practical application, with demonstrations with willing participants and then a have a go yourself approach, all under the support and guidance of Saga.
Overall the workshop was really informative and fun. Although not new to the subject, or its various forms of application, I always find that there is something new to learn or a new idea sparked when attending any workshop. I’m super stoked to be here in Berlin and especially thankful for the learning opportunities which are available here with Studio Lux.
The second part of the evening was the Flashback Friday party at the nearby club, Insomnia.
Insomnia is a labyrinth of a place with a large upstairs dance floor and bar, which is overlooked by a mezanine floor with couches and beds, which were being well used by a number of couples, even before the party had got in to full swing. The muscial vibes in this area was 90’s pop and hip-hop and given what was going on up on the mezanine, people were certainly ‘gettin’ jiggy with it’.
Downstairs the musical vibe was much more indy-rock and had far few people down there. There is a newby tour held at around 11pm which is run by one of the event unicorns and gives everyone an overview of the various play and chill areas.
Beyond the downstairs dance floor you will find glory holes, padded benches, St. Andrews crosses and medical style chairs.
Overall the vibes were fun and playful. Very much felt like a swingers party more than a kink play party though, which isn’t really my scene, however, going by the queues outside when I left, there are plenty of others who love this night and space.
Being tired from the travel, I retired early. It had been a long 48 hours and I needed sleep. As my good friend reminded me, my Berlin trip is a marathon not a sprint and so I need to pace myself. Make sure to check back for my next installment and you can also find me on Instagram @thetwistedangel
